Cute Hedgehog

Hedgehog just caught my attention..

It has been said that no other exotic animal has caught the attention of the public quite like the pet hedgehog has. Their spines, friendly and curious nature, as well as that ever-smiling expression have endeared them to millions of confessed hedgehog lovers around the globe.

Those in Britain, Europe and parts of Africa have long known about the hedgehogs’ charm. British author and illustrator, Beatrix Potter, although most famous for her story of Peter Rabbit, also wrote the wonderful tale of a hedgehog named "Mrs. Tiggy-winkle", a matronly washerwoman. A British wildlife hospital dedicated to rescuing sick and injured hedgehogs is even named after this delightful character.

The interest in hedgehogs doesn't end there, though. Until recently, these remarkable little animals were virtually unknown in North America. But now, thanks to the pioneering efforts of breeders, the African Pygmy Hedgehog is now readily available and can be found in the homes of thousands of happy pet owners. "But why," you may ask, "is there such an interest in hedgehogs as pets?"

Besides having a peaceful and humorous nature, hedgehogs readily lend themselves to just about anyone's lifestyle and schedule. Being diurnal (awake parts of both day and night) just like house cats, nearly everyone can find a time of day in which to enjoy them. They do not require a great deal of room in which to live and their dietary requirements are very easy to meet and, since they are solitary animals by nature they neither require nor want the companionship of another animal.

Unlike hamsters, Guinea Pigs and other small rodents, pet hedgehogs do not give off any appreciable odor and they are easily litter trained. They live much longer than rodents, too. With the proper care and diet, your pet can live to be 4 - 7 years old. Add to all of this the fact that they require no immunization shots and are very disease resistant and you can see why so many people consider hedgehogs to be the perfect pet.

They have adorable little raccoon-like faces, set with beady little black eyes and small pointy noses that seem to twitch constantly, checking out the different odors of the room. Depending on the color variation that you choose, their little white faces may or may not have a mask. Although not related to the porcupine, they are sometimes mistaken for them because of the quills that cover their backs. The similarity ends there, however, since these quills are not barbed or nearly as sharp and remain attached to their bodies. Their little white tummies, on the other hand, are extremely soft and are covered with short, white hair. When frightened, they can roll up into a tight ball and look very much like a sea urchin. They have a short, stubby tail, but this is rarely seen since they keep it tucked up close their bodies. With their tiny little legs and round bodies, it is a real sight to see them scurry across the floor.

African Pygmy HedgehogUnlike their much larger English cousins, the African Pygmy Hedgehog (or pet hedgehog) is rather small in size, with the average adult weighing between ½ and 1 ¼ pounds and are 5 to 8 inches long - about the size of a Guinea Pig. There are a few rare adults that will grow to as much as 1 ¾ to 2 pounds (without being fat) while others are as little as 6 or 7 ounces. Breeders are now concentrating on these differences so that someday, we will have a choice between two different sizes of hedgehogs.

They have a quiet, gentle, disposition that makes them a true delight to own and hold. Each has a distinct personality and will bond to its owner for life. (We are assuming you purchased a socialized pet). They are surprisingly intelligent, fun to play with and are easily entertained. They love to play with tunnels, mazes and specially designed hedgehog wheels. Even something as simple as a toilet paper tube will make a good toy, as they love to stick their heads in them and run about the floor. Despite their solitary nature, they can become very affectionate with their owners and will even enjoying watching TV with you or just snuggling in your lap.

Because they are quiet, they are very easy to travel with. Most people aren’t even aware that a pet hedgehog is nearby. Many hotels that restrict other animals such as cats and dogs will allow hedgehogs. Once trained to a litter box, an adult can pretty well have the run of the house. With its excellent sense of smell, keen eyesight and good memory, it will know where the litter box is and will use it on a regular basis. Because they are not a rodent, they have no body odor, but it is still important to clean the litter box daily to eliminate all smells. Some people are not comfortable with a loose pet, so a cage with a minimum floor area of 16 x 24” will keep it happy and secure.

New Vocab -- Different-Shit!!!!

I woke up really early on Thursday morning.. took a shower and went to catch a tram to Karina's place to grab my bag. It was early so Karina n me decided to have a breakfast in McDs in Hindley st. We ordered McMuffins and Pancakes, it was nice thou. It was different in Hindley st, as usually in the nite it is pretty scary to walk around because a lot of drunk peoples but in the morning we could hear birds chirping, business people threw smiles and they walk with elegance.. hahaha

Anyway we took a bus to Uni and start our day with AFW, Trevor was talking a lot today about his interesting experience with foods. He loves YumCha too so in the end Karina n me went to ask him the best Yum Cha in China Town and he suggest one. We are goin to try it!!! haha

We finish of our Uni with Marketing class, Jojo n Jody had their presentation. Jody talked about their presentation and when she reach a point where she should say "Differentiate", she had problem to pronounce it. So she was asking Jojo, "Differ.. Differrent.. Different what?" So Jojo told her differentiate and what come out from Jody was "Different-Shit!!". I started laughing and the whole class did too. it was so funny that we laughed for a while.

We finish at 3pm today. It was unusual for me as we used to finish at 6pm haha!
I went home and cooked foods with Ken. It was pretty nice, we were bloated after dinner so we watched Gordon Ramsey then I was too tired so just went to sleep..

Friday was an easy day.. We only have TIS tute. Only 2 hours and then we went home. I got my dvds my friend sent it from Darwin. Then I met Tessa, we had lunch in BBQ City. @4pm John picked Ken n me up for soccer. We had a great match..

Went home and got nothing to do.. So Ken decided to buy a box of Orange Baccardi contains 24 bottles. We played the dvds, we watched Gridiron Gangs and CSI miami. We drank too much.. I drank 9 bottles I counted, Ken was more and Oliver was around 6. I feel bloated and run to the toilet every 5 minutes. In the end we were too tired so all of us decided to call it a day..

Love United!!

So Wednesday is a long day for me.. Can't stop thinking about the Soccer match we are going to watch this afternoon. Its Adelaide United vs Pohang (Korea). Steven, Clara n Jessica are going to support Pohang as they are Korean. Ken, Oliver, May, Arya n me were pumped up to support Adelaide United. So after our class finished at 5, we took the bus straight to the city. Ken n me dropped our bags at Karina's place and joined the others to take a bus to Hindmarsh stadium. The bus was packed and stinks as lots of supporters were goin to the match as well. We jumped down from the bus and started yelling.. We arrive at the stadium at 6.30.
We went to grab our perfect spots but after minutes the stadium was full. The attendance showed in the screen was around 11.000 peoples..

The players were out from changing room so we started to scream.. Ken n me screamed a lot. We did the owl sound woo hoo woo hoo and the Greek man sit infront of us started to laugh and then he sometimes talk to us. It was pretty fun.. Pohang holds most of the possesion but United scored from a counter attack. It was Diego, the Brazilian player who scored a nice screamer from the box line. He dummy a defender and take a right foot shot.

In the end United won 1-0.. it was pretty fun thou!!! We wait for the bus to take us to the city. I was tired when I reach home. I am expecting for next United match in Adelaide. Karina wanted to watch aswell.. Hopes more friends would join in too :)

Exhausting Tuesday

I woke up today @4.30am.. I know today is gonna be a really long day. We have two service points today. One for Kitchen and one for FBS. So I'm a bit excited as today we gonna cook something that without the help of the lecturer. So I jumped off my bed, turn on the light and slipped thru to the bathroom. After steamed for a while in the bathroom then I get changed and ready.. I walked my way to the bus stop in China town, Sissy was already there.. I was amazed that she was early today, but may be she has changed now or maybe coz she is gonna be the head chef of the day. Anyway Jody joined us for the bus and the we met Karina, Zach n the others on the way.

We reach LCB at 6.50am.. It was pretty dark thou and freezingly cold..
We went to class and Lachlan was the only student in there. He set up tables and other things I guess we should thank him. Cheers mate!!! So we joined him. Jojo and Karina were the group who setting up the equipments, Zach, Sarah, Elite, Jessica n me were the group who cook the main course which was Veal Lamb.
At first I was a bit lost and does not know what to do, luckily we had Zach as out team leader. And he pretty organized and he told me what to do. So we were cooking so hard and we helped each other in the group and the other group. Actually I think our class is the best class in all of those 5 stage 1 classes in LCB. We had a great team and members except one person who always to fucked up most of things.. Well I won't say a name here but most person would know who that is..
So then after hours of cooking, I burnt 2 of my knuckles, 3 of my fingers. I guess I was a bit slop that morning.. Or maybe I was just over-excited. Then after everything ready we sent the foods to the restaurant to be service to customers. Then we wait for our feedback. Our food was great, Michel Gautron was impressed, our presentation was fabulous and the teamwork was unbreakable. It was just perfect.. at the end we just dividing foods to eat and taste ourself. Jojo n Karina's fish was great, Our Veal was too yummy but William's Rouille was a bit fucked up and even a costumer gave a feedback that the Rouille's taste was like shit!! Sorry but that was true haha

So we done a Kitchen service point then a FBS to go.. We nearly the whole class of 1E skipped a lecture, I bought BBQ Pork and Roast Pork to share with. It was nice n it was lovely to see my classmates gather together and had a chit-chat before our next big assesment..
Then the time comes, we went to the training room, set up tables and cutleries and Sarah n me were tie the menus which Zach designed with ribbons, and Tammy was leading us as Zach became bartender. Everyone was doing their job perfectly and as we could see the end product..

Tables were set up nice and beautifully.. Ideas from all my teammates and Mr.Manoj himself.

Jody, Sarah n Davo were posing before serving..

Karina n Zach preparing behind the Bar

Double n Karina, a good pair?? lemme know..

After all we did our service to 1A group. Oliver and May were there and served by Jojo. Tammy was busy leading the team. I was helping my teammates to serve as I was a floater who float around like an IceCube in a fish pond. Zach, Henry and Ring were busy doing their drinks for the customers called "The Sunrise", it was nice the customers like it. Karina, Jojo, Jody, Sissy, Double, Sarah, Jessica n Willy was serving a person a table. It was pretty fun.. I was floating a lot to top up drinks and serving cheeze.. We finish our service point one successfully thanks to all my lovely classmates who were covering for me on monday and did plenty of works for me.. Cheers!!!

In the end I went home @ 6pm, full of excitement and satisfaction.. what a day to start with..
After all I realize I owe a big thanks to all my classmates and enjoying this friendship that we are building around it..!!

Fire Fly

Well since I talked to Ken bout FireFlies, I just remembered back in my old days when I was a kid there were so many FireFlies near my home. We use to catch it and put it on the Jar and watch them as they glow in night. But now day it is so rare to find or bump into the FireFly.. So I decided to blog some facts bout them..

Fireflies are familiar, but few realize that these insects are actually beetles, nocturnal members of the family Lampyridae. Most fireflies are winged, which distinguishes them from other luminescent insects of the same family, commonly known as glowworms.

There are about 2,000 firefly species. These insects live in a variety of warm environments, as well as in more temperate regions, and are a familiar sight on summer evenings. Fireflies love moisture and often live in humid regions of Asia and the Americas. In drier areas, they are found around wet or damp areas that retain moisture.

Everyone knows how fireflies got their name, but many people don't know how the insects produce their signature glow. Fireflies have dedicated light organs that are located under their abdomens. The insects take in oxygen and, inside special cells, combine it with a substance called luciferin to produce light with almost no heat.

Firefly light is usually intermittent, and flashes in patterns that are unique to each species. Each blinking pattern is an optical signal that helps fireflies find potential mates. Scientists are not sure how the insects regulate this process to turn their lights on and off.

Firefly light may also serve as a defense mechanism that flashes a clear warning of the insect's unappetizing taste. The fact that even larvae are luminescent lends support to this theory.

Females deposit their eggs in the ground, which is where larvae develop to adulthood. Underground larvae feed on worms and slugs by injecting them with a numbing fluid.

Adults eschew such prey and typically feed on nectar or pollen, though some adults do not eat at all. - National Geographic -

So I woke up and check the package to my bro in nearest post office, then I walked to the shoe repairer in King William st to get my shoes fixed and I have to pick it up before 4.15pm.
Then I took a tram to Pirrie St and walk to find the Immigration Office. I walked up n down in Currie street to look for the office but there was no sign of it. I was tired then I text Karina to ask for the address. Then I asked to man in news agency and he pointed me to the building but Shit I was standing infront of the building the whole time and there was no sign outside the building. So then I went in and took the lift to 3rd floor. I then get the queue number and get everything fixed in half an hour.

After that I walked to Study Adelaide office to get the Free Soccer Ticket. but I can only get one so I booked for Karina, Oliver, Ken n Zach. Oliver called he just finish his house keeping exam. I then paid my bills in the post office in Rundle Mall. I met Oliver to have lunch and we went to pay the Internet. I then went to Dymocks to look up on Chinese conversation dictionary as i am really desperate to learn Chinese. But there was nothing worth it..

Later I met Karina n Zach then we went to get the Ticket inStudy Adelaide. Oliver n Zach could get extra tickets for their girlfriend. I am excited for the Soccer Match.. and looking forward for it. Karina went home, Zach, Oliver n me went to Woolworths to buy groceries and we then headed home. I slept for an hour then woke up to cook dinner with Oliver n May. Awesome Weekend

Start on Friday..
We had Bar test.. I pretty fuck up the test as we have to serve the drinks in order and I have been ordered to make an Ouzo. Its a strange drink for me as I never heard of it before as u guys know I am not a drinker (haha). Well lucky Ric the lecturer told me that Ouzo contains white spirit, lemonade and water. But I was nervous and rushed everything so I forget how to make the Ouzo, it just went BLANK! So what I did was I pour brown spirit and didn't put the lemonade and I screwed up on the serve order to as it suppose to be Glass of Beer, Lemon Squash, Bottle of Beer and Ouzo what I serve was Bottle of Beer, Lemon Squash, Glass of Beer and Ouzo but Ric was really nice. He told me what I went wrong and he told how it suppose to be done!! Love ya Ric !!

Anyway after a tiring friday, I went home. Hopped on the bus and then I met one of my soccer friend on the way. So I decided to go with him to play at Adelaide Oval, thou it was late as it was 5pm but we still managed to play. I play with bare feet and long pants and white uni long sleeves. But I managed to score 2 and did 1 assist to make the score 4-4 for my team. It was pretty nice but my foot was stinging cold. Anyway I was too tired that day so I went home and sleep on couch..

Saturday Inspection!!
So I woke up Saturday morning as I promise Karina to meet her and Jojo in the central market and to visit Sissy's apartment to take a peek as they want to move in together next year. And so I met Karina @ 12pm in Central Market.. She bought lot of fruits hmmm yummie.. and we went to Seafood shop to buy a nice octopus and fish. Then later we meet Sissy in Vic's Square. We decided to grab our lunch as Jojo and Christie missed the bus and they have to wait a bit long to catch the next bus. We went to have lunch in Noodle House. It was pretty yum and cheap too.. We had pork dumplings, noodle and other yum food. I picked up some Chinese words from karina n Sissy. I never heard Karina talk that much in Mandarin before, I was AMAZED haha. but anyway I decided Mandarin is the next language for me to learn..

After we bloated with the Chinese foods we decided to have a nice coffee.. I had my Hot Chocolate and I added sugar and became too sweet.. damn sweet..!!! Karina and Sissy had Cappucino and then after a while we decided to have more Cappucino.. It was nice.. Then we went to Sissy's apartment. It was a nice apartment. Later Jojo n Christie joined us and they inspected all the room types. And they satisfy with the Apartment and decided to move in next year with Karina aswell. I am thinking to join in aswell but we will see how it goes as my place now is pretty comfy!!

After hours of chit-chat we decided to go home. I went to the city with Karina, I went to buy Cruisers and Moscato. then I walk home. I was tired for walking whole day but it was pretty fun to walk in nice chilly weather. When i get home my friend called me and ask for morning soccer match in Flinders so I decided to go tomorrow..
